Ingredients

  • Ground Beef (don't get too lean of a beef or it falls apart)

Preparation

Step 1

Chop up the onions into small pieces about a quarter the size of a postage stamp, so you can bite into them rather than just taste them. Use a garlic press for the garlic, remove any large fiber pieces before mixing.

Be sure to keep some BBQ sauce left over for grilling.

Most of the key to this recipe is the smell of the meat as you mix it. You should be able to tell a distinct BBQ sauce smell and a hint of the spicy mustard. Use as much onion or garlic as you like, I like to use half an onion for about 3 pounds of meat and 2 or 3 large cloves of garlic. The meat should be a darker red color. Mix it until the meat is an even color, if there are streaks keep mixing. If you add too much of the sauces add a bit more of the other to balance the taste and add the breadcrumbs to firm the meat up. If you don't the meat will break apart on the grill. Add seasoned salt or BBQ seasoning to taste to the mix. If you want, add some of the hot sauce to the mix but I like to leave it for each individual burger because not everyone likes it.

Form the patties to the size you like.

While grilling after one side is done, flip them and baste some BBQ sauce on the cooked side. Once the next side is done, flip again and add more BBQ sauce. Let it grill to perfection and add hot sauce on top if you want.

And that's it, you really don't need ketchup or other toppings with this burger, it masks the taste too much and they should be juicy enough.

Enjoy!
