Two Potato Gratin

Ingredients

  • 1 medium Russet Potato
  • 1 medium Red Garnet Yam
  • 2 cups grated Gruyere Cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Heavy Cream
  • French Thyme

Preparation

Step 1

Peel and thinly slice both potatoes. Using a mandoline makes the slicing easier and uniform.

Butter the bottom and sides of your baking dish; small casserole size or individual dishes. Place a layer of potatoes in bottom of pan, sprinkle with salt and pepper and french thyme. Continue process alternating the white potato and the yam. Continue until all potatoes are are used.

Pour cream over potatoes until almost covered. Sprinkle top with grated cheese and thyme.

Bake at 375 until potatoes are tender.

About 35-45 minutes for individual gratins. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes before serving.

About 45-60 minutes for small casserole dish. Let sit for about 10-15 minutes before serving or until it starts to set up.
