Ingredients
- 1 quart beef bullion (4 cups)
- 3 cups thinly sliced yellow onions
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 T flour
- 1/4 cup dry vermouth or cognac (optional)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan
- Mozzarella cheese

Preparation
Step 1
Pour bullion in crock pot, cover and set on high. Cook onions slowly in large skillet in butter, cover and let cook for about 15 minutes. Uncover and add salt, sugar, flour, and vermouth, if desired and stir well. Add to stock in crock pot, cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours (high for 3 hours). Before serving add grated Parmesan and mozzarella cheese on top of grilled bread. This recipe can be doubled for a 5 quart crock pot.
