Granmommie's 2 hour Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp. melted shortening or oil
  • 7-8 cups sifted flour
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt, oil. Add flour, small amounts at a time, mixing well with a spoon. When dough is too stiff to stir, pour out onto a well floured board. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a well greased bowl, cover with towel and set in a warm place to rise until doubled (about 1 hour) Make out with hands into rolls, placing in well greased baking pan. Cover and let rise until double again (about 1 hour). When they are done rising, bake in oven at 450 until they are brown on the tops.
