  • 2-16 oz cans peeled whole tomatoes
  • 2 T butter
  • 5 T sugar
  • S&P
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • If in season, use 10 ripe tomatoes, peeled and cored


Servings 8


Step 1

-Combine tomatoes and butter in heavy pot.
-Cook covered over low heat for 1 1/2 hours.
-Mash tomatoes, add sugar, S&P and nutmeg.
-Cook 30 min, stirring often.
