Basic Brownie Batter

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, plus more for the pans
  • 8 oz chopped bittersweet chocolate
  • 3/4 c granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp; vanilla extract
  • 3 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c all purpose flour
  • 3 Tb unsweetened cocoa

Preparation

Step 1

In a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water, melt butter.
Add chocolate and stir until melted
Remove bowl from the heat and set aside. In a large bowl, lightly beat together sugars, eggs, vanilla and salt until combined.
Stir in reserved chocolate mixture.
Add flour and cocoa and stir until just combined. Use this batter as base. Add any extras you like
