Aunt Sophie's Dutch Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/2 lb. sweet butter
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg separated- use white to glaze cookies
• 2 cups flour
• 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. powdered ginger
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• candied cherries pieces

Preparation

Step 1

preheat oven to 275 degrees
butter a jelly roll pan
1. cream butter, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla
2. mix flour,salt, cinnamon, ginger
3. fold dry ingredients into butter etc. gently
4. press into jelly roll pan, take a tablespoon at a time.
5. brush with egg white
6. cut into domino shaped impressions and dot with small pieces of candied cherries.
7. bake for 45 minutes
8. cut with knife, again
