Kiawa Grilled BBQ Beef

Ingredients

  • Marinade:
  • 5 pounds tri tip beef roast
  • 1/2 cup onion, roughly chopped
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoon Worcestershire
  • 3/4 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Preparation

Step 1

On medium heat, saute onion in butter until translucent, then add remaining ingredients. Stir occasionally for 15 minutes. Set aside.

*Seasoning:*
1 tablespoon Hawaiian salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
Rub beef with seasoning and let sit for 1 hour. Cut meat into large chunks. Prepare grill and place grill grate 2-3 inches above coals. Sear on each side. Move grill grate 6-2 inches above coals and cook beef until meat reaches desired doneness. Brush meat with sauced throughout entire cooking process. Slice and serve.
