Fancy Nut Roll

Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 lbs ground nuts
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • Icing:
  • 4 cups powered sugar
  • 1/2 stick butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • milk

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour, bakin g powder, salt sugar and shortening. Set aside.
Mix eggs, milk and vanilla together. Then add to dry mixture.

Make approximately 10-12 small rolls. Cool overnight. Roll out in powder sugar. Spread with filling. Then roll like a jelly roll. Cut about 3/4 - 1 inch slices. Put on a cookie sheet, seam down.

Bake 350° for 15-20 minutes. Ice each cookie while warm and roll in ground nuts.
