Ingredients

  • 1

    cup molasses

  • 1

    cup boiling water

  • 1

    cup sugar

  • 1

    cup vegetable oil

  • 2

    eggs

  • 3

    cups flour

  • 1

    tsp bkg soda

  • 1

    tsp powdered ginger

  • 1

    tsp cinnamon

  • ½

    tsp allspice

  • 1

    tsp bkg spice

  • ½

    tsp salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 375*. Mix the molasses, sugar, oil, and the boiling water together in a medium mixing bowl and stir to combine. Let it cool to lukewarm before continuing. Meanwhile mix together the dry ingredients. Add the eggs to molasses mixture and mix well. Now incorporate the dry ingredients to make a smooth batter. Pour into a greased 9-13 pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes till toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm w/ ice cream or vanilla whip cream.
