Ingredients

  • 2 cups (1# box) of Baking Soda
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 cups cold water
  • Food coloring to color clay - if Desired
  • paints: water colors, poster paint or acrylics

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat.

Stir constantly until mixture is the consistency of moist mashed potatoes (10-15 minutes).

Turn mixture out on to a plate and cover with a damp cloth.

When clay is cool enough to handle, knead it like dough until it gets smooth.

Knead in a couple of drops of food coloring to make colored clay, shape, let dry and paint. Glitter looks cool too!

You can dry your play clay creations by preheating your oven to 350. Turn off oven, place clay items on a cookie sheet in oven, and allow oven to cool.
