Ingredients
- Dough:
- 1 cup shortening (1/2 Crisco, 1/2 butter)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 pkg yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Filling:
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbs cinnamon
- ground walnuts
- Icing:
- confectioners' sugar
- 1 pat of butter
- warm milk
- vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Combine sugar, flour and salt. Cut in shortening as you would for pie dough. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm milk. Add beaten eggs. Add to dry ingredients, stirring only until flour is absorbed. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight Divide dough into 4 parts. Roll each into a 12 inch circle. Brush on butter, sugar and cinnamon mixture. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut into 16 pie-shaped pieces. Roll up from wide end to point. Place on parchment cookie sheet, pint side down. Let rise 20 minutes. Bake 15-20 minutes at 350° or until lightly browned. Drizzle with icing while warm.
Icing:
Mix the ingredients until thin enough to drizzle.
