Slivovic Cake (Kuma Mara)

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yellow cake mix
  • 1 (3 3/4 oz pkg) instant vanilla pudding
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup Slivovica
  • Glaze
  • 1/8 lb butter
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup Slivovica

Preparation

Step 1

Combine cake ingredients in a large bowl . Beat at medium speed for a few minutes. pour into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour. Set on rack to cool for about 10 minutes. Invert on serving plate and immediately prick with toothpick. Drizzle and brush 1/2 of the glaze over top and sides. Let cool completely. Reheat the reserved glaze and brush over the cake.

Glaze:
Melt butter in saucepan, stir in water and sugar. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in Slivovica. (Kuma used double the water and on 1 tbs of Slivovica and didn't end up using all of the glaze.
