Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 cup shortenting
- 2/3 cup milk

Preparation
Step 1
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and cream of tartar.
2. Cut in shortening until mixture is the consistency of course crumbs.
3. Add milk all at once and mix thoroughy until dough follows for around.
4. Turn out on lightly floured surface, knead gently for 1/2 minute.
5. Pat or roll 1/2 inch thick, cut with biscuit cutter.
6. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in very hot oven (450) 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 16 medium biscuits.
For drop biscuits add extra milk and drop from spoon.
