Ingredients
- 4 pounds pork spareribs
- 2 cups apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups chopped onion
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 tsps salt
- 2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tbls dried mustard
Preparation
Step 1
Place ribs in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring ribs to a boil over high heat and boil for 10-15 minutes until meat is a bit tender (a little give to the meat). (Chicken broth can replace some of the water if desired). Remove meat from water and drain. Place meat in a large baking pan.
In a large saucepan over high heat, combine vinegar, water, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, sugar, bay leaces, thyme oil and dry mustard. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 300F. Pour 2 cups of the sauce over the ribs. Cover with foil and bake until ribs are tender and brown 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Add water to pan while cooking if the ribs start to become dry. remove from oven and serve with remaining sauce.
