Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp basil
  • salt and ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3/4 lb ground beef chuck
  • 3/4 lb ground pork

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oven to 375 F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. In a bowl, combine ketchup and brown sugar.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, tomato paste, Worcestershire, basil, 3/4 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp ground pepper. Stir in bread crumbs. Add the onion and parsley and mix to combine.
3. Add the beef and pork and mix just until incorporated. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and shape into a 9 X 3.5 inch loaf. Brush loaf with ketchup-brown sugar mixture. Bake until the internal temperature registers 150 F, 40 to 45 minutes. Let rest for 5 mins. before slicing.
