If you've never made these before, check out the very detailed instructions, complete with photos, on this webpage:

(photo is my own, i.e., this is what they really look like)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 package Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry
  • 1 pack mini hotdogs or smokey links

Preparation

Step 1

Defrost one sheet of the puff pastry for 1 hour, in its packaging.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Rinse the hotdogs and dry.

Lay out the puff pastry sheet and, using a pizza cutter, cut three long strips, each just a bit shorter in width than are the hot dogs (probably about one-inch wide). Cutting cross-wise, divide each long strip into thirds (I just use the natural fold lines of the pastry for this part). Then divide each 1x3-inch rectangle into two triangles, cutting from the top left corner to the bottom right corner.

Lay each hot dog along the 1-inch edge, and roll down to the point. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush the tops with a simple egg wash, and bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown. Serve with grainy mustard (or yellow mustard for kids).
