Carmelized Onion Roll

Ingredients

  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Large garlic clove, minced
  • 3 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a large bowl, add water and sprinkle yeast over it and let sit until the yeast dissolves.

2. Gently stir in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sugar; set aside.

3. In a small fry pan add the butter and let it melt then saute the onions and garlic until the onions are caramelized; set aside.

4. In a medium sized bowl combine the flour and salt.

5. Add the flour mixture and onions & garlic to the yeast mixture and mix until everything is completely combined.

6. Turn the dough out onto a well floured surface the knead for about a minute. (Dough should be slightly wet.)

7. In a clean bowl, pour in the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and with your fingers, coat the entire bowl.

8. Place the dough in the bowl, then turn it over to make sure it is completely covered in the oil.

8. Place a towel over the dough and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

9. Once risen, take pieces of the dough and place them on a oiled cookie sheet.

10. Bake in a pre-heated 400 degree oven for 15 minutes.
