Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 eggs
Preparation
Step 1
Melt shortening and chocolate in large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat; stir in sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in nuts. Turn into greased 8- or 9-inch square pan or disposable foil pan(s). Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes or until brownies test done. Cool. Cut into squares.
Note: If desired, double recipe. Bake brownies in greased 9-by-13-inch pan for about 35 minutes.
