Homemade Apple Sauce

  • 30 mins
  • 60 mins

Ingredients

  • 15 apples - peeled, cored and chopped
  • 2 3/4 cups water (use apple cider for more flavor)
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon (or 1 cinnamon stick)

Preparation

Step 1

Peel, core, and slice apples. Place apple slices in a bowl of water with fruit fresh or lemon juice. This will keep them from browning.

In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cover, and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft.

Allow to cool, then mash with a fork or potato masher or run thorough a food mill
