Ingredients
- 1 egg white, lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon water
- 3 cups pecan halves
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil. In small bowl beat egg white with water. Stir in pecans, mixing until well moistened. In another small bowl, mix together sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and cayenne. Sprinkle over moistened nuts and toss to coat. Spread nuts on prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, watching carefully and stirring every 7 minutes. Nuts can burn quickly so keep an eye on them. This recipe doubles, even triples, well. Feel free to substitute walnuts or mixed nuts for pecans.
