Meatballs in Sauce au Gratin

Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • 4 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 8 Garlic Cloves Peeled & Smashed
  • 1 28 oz can Crushed Tomato With Basil
  • Meatballs:
  • 1 lb Ground Beef 80% Lean
  • 1/4 cup Small Dice Onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup Ricotta Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • Pinch Salt
  • Pinch Pepper
  • 1 1/ cup Mozzarella Shredded Cheese

In a deep pan with a lid, on medium high heat, add oil and garlic cloves, then on both sides until a light golden color. Add crushed tomatoes, mix well and cover. Lower to medium heat and let simmer while preparing meatballs. To a large mixing bowl, add all remaining ingredients, except the mozzarella cheese. Mix until well incorporated, then form into nine meatballs. Place meatballs directly into the sauce, then cover and let cook for eight minutes. After meatballs have cooked, turn the meatballs cover and cook an additional eight minutes. Top each meatball with mozzarella cheese cover until cheese has melted. Serve with pasta.

Helpful Tips:

The trick is to just let them cook exactly eight minutes and only turn them once. They will be perfect.
