Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground sausage
  • or 1 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 can (1 lb) diced tomatoes
  • 29 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 1/2 package (8 oz) lasagne
  • 1 lb Ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 oz Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

In large heavy pan, lightly brown ground beef, sausage, and onion in oil. Add diced tomatoes, sauce, parsley, salt, sugar, garlic powder, pepper, Italian seasoning, and oregano; simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook lasagne as directed; drain. In 13×9×2 baking pan, spread about 1 cup sauce. Then alternate layers of lasagne, sauce, Ricotta mixture, Mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese, ending with sauce, Mozzarella, and Parmesan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 to 50 minutes until lightly browned and bubbling. Allow to stand for 15 minutes: cut in squares to serve.
