  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 6 eggs, room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon each vanilla, lemon, almond, coconut and pineapple flavorings
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pound confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon each vanilla, lemon, almond, coconut and pineapple flavorings
  • Water

Step 1

1. Heat oven to 320 degrees. Grease and flour a large tube pan. Cream
sugar,shortening and butter until light and fluffy in an electric mixer,
about 10 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing in after each
addition.

2. Combine flour and baking powder in a bowl. Alternately add flour mixture
and milk to the creamed mixture until combined. Stir in the five
flavorings. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in
the center comes out clean.

3. Remove cake from pan and let cool. Make the glaze by whipping the
softened butter and cream cheese, and adding the confectioners’ sugar
and five flavorings. Gradually add water to achieve a thin, pourable
glaze consistency. (If desired, use less water to make a thicker mixture
that can be used like an icing.) Pour glaze over the cooled cake.
