Chocolate Chip Carmel Bars (Diana O.)

  • 1 pkg German Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 lb caramels (about 50 pieces)
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 oz semi sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven at 350°. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan. Combine cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup milk. Pat 1/2 mixture in pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool. In a double broiler or microwave bowl, melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Spread over cooled layer in pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, then put remaining cake mixture on top of this. Bake 15 minutes more. Cool.
