Grandma Hamrin's Rice Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbs margarine
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup rice
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup half and half

Preparation

Step 1

Rinse rice well. Add first 4 ingredients to rice then bring to a boil. Cover and cook slowly for 10 minutes. Add 3 1/2 cups milk and let boil up than simmer for 30 minutes without stirring and with lid on. Add 1/2 cup half and half or more so it's a nice consistency.
Serve a small portion to each and sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon and if desired a little extra milk.
