AMISH SWEET BREAD
Notes: One run is 3 loaves. Vanilla is most people’s favorite. Use miniature chips. Nuts can be added to any. Loaves with just the pudding flavor added can’t be beat. You could add candy bars, if chipped up also. Use your imagination!
Note: Suggestions: Vanilla w/ chocolate and peanut butter chips is delicious. Lemon w/ poppy seeds
Butterscotch w/ toffee chips,White chocolate pudding w/chocolate chips (hard to find) Toasted coconut pudding w/ coconut flakes (hard to find) Lemon w/Mandarin oranges-chopped up.
Vanilla w/mashed bananas & nuts.
Made cheesecake: 1 plain and 2 w/choc chips- good
- Starter (recipe and directions for-another listing)
- Milk, eggs, oil
- flour, sugar
- cinnamon, vanilla
- flavors of instant puddings
- any add ins e.g. nuts, choc. chips.....
DAY 1 Starter was bagged. Squeeze several times a day.
DAY 2-5 Squeeze bag several times a day.
DAY 6 Add following to bag:
1 cup of flour (self-rising)
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
squeeze bag to mix and continue to squeeze several times a day.
DAY 7-9 Squeeze bag several times a day.
DAY 10 Pour contents of bag into a large bowl and add the following:
1 cup flour (self-rising)
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar.
Mix with wooden or plastic spoon.
Note: I have to use a metal whip to get the lumps of flour mixed.
Pour 1 cup of batter into each of 4 one gallon size Ziploc bags (starters).
Set aside bowl with remaining batter.
Prepare loaf pans as follows:
Combine 2 teaspoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in small bowl and sprinkle into bottom of well- greased loaf pans. Save some for later for sprinkling on top of loaves.
To the remaining batter in the bowl add:
1 cup sugar.
2 cups flour (self-rising).
1 teaspoon cinnamon.
(Mix dry ingredients well then add following :)stir little at a time into wet ingredients to prevent lumping.
1 cup oil.
½ cup milk.
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring.
Mix well then stir in 2 boxes instant pudding of your choice. Blend well. Vanilla is the most popular but lemon, butterscotch etc. are good also.
You can add any kind of ingredients you like such as nuts, raisins Miniature choc., peanut butter, butterscotch chips etc. Use your own ideas.
Note: At this point, if you want 3 different breads, you can separate batter into 3 equal part and add different ingredients. Each part measures one mark above ¾ cup.
Pour batter into loaf pans, dividing equaling and sprinkle with more cinnamon-sugar.
Bake at 325 degrees for 45-55 minutes, or until done. Top will spring back when done Or tooth pick will be clean when inserted. ENJOY! VERY GOOD!
Note: Mix sugar and cinnamon with flour before adding wet ingredients. Helps stop lumping. Takes longer than 45 minutes. About 55.
