Ingredients
- 6 1/2 C whole milk
- 1 1/2 C sugar
- 2 whole allspice berries
- 2 small cinnamon sticks
- 2 whole cloves
- 5 large egg yolks
- 1 C brandy

Preparation
Step 1
Combine 6 C milk, 1 C sugar, allspice, cinnamon and cloves in heavy, large saucepan, and bring to a boil. Lower hear, and simmer, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes.
Whisk egg yolks, remaining 1/2 C milk, and remaining 1/2 C sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Gradually whisk in warm milk mixture.
Return mixture to saucepan. Stirring constantly, cook over medium-low heat until mixture thickens slightly (about 4 minutes). Do not boil. Stir in brandy, remove from heat.
Strain into a pitcher, and chill.
