Pogacha (Mara Y)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1 tbs salt
  • 5 1/2 - 6 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 pkgs yeast
  • 2 tbs sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until bubbly. Scald milk in a 2 quart pot. Add butter, water and salt. Let cool to lukewarm. Add yeast mixture. Add 4 cups flour to liquid mixture. Place remaining flour on board,knead until all flour is used up. Divide into 3 parts. Shape into round loaves. Grease baking sheet. Flatten dough with hands. Let rise 15 minutes. Bake 375° for 40-45 minutes.
