Baklava

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Filo Dough
  • 1 lb sweet butter
  • 1 1/2 lbs walnuts - chopped
  • 4 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Syrup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 lemon

Preparation

Step 1

Combine walnuts, sugar and cinnamon
Brush baking tray with melted butter
Place layers of filo dough in pan - brushing each layer
Add filling between serveral of the layers
Brush top layer heavy with melted butter

Score top layer with exacto knife in the shpes you would like to cut --- usually triangles

Bake for 45 minute until golden.

Bring all ingredients to a boil and 10 minutes - strain out lemon rind and cool -- poor over hot Baklava

maybe stored in freezer for several months if tightly wrapped
