Beefy Barbecued Onions

Ingredients

  • 1 envelope beefy mushroom soup mix or savory herbs with garlic soup mix
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 large onions (about 2 pounds), thinly sliced
  • 1 extra heavy duty foil bag, regular size

Preparation

Step 1

In large bowl, combine soup mix, ketchup, brown sugar and oil. Add onions; toss to coat. Turn into foil bag. Double fold open end of bag to seal.

Grill turning over halfway through cooking, 25 minutes or until onions are tender. Serve on hot dogs, hamburgers or sausage or steak sandwiches.

*Oven Method:* Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place foil bag on large baking pan on bottom rack and bake, turning bag over halfway through cooking, 45 minutes or until onions are tender.
