Royal Icing

Ingredients

  • 3 level tbs meringue powder
  • 1 lb sifted pure cane confectioners sugar
  • 5 - 6 tbs lukewarm water

Preparation

Step 1

Make sure all utensils are grease free

For stiff consistency icing:

Place meringue powder & confectioners sugar in bowl.
Stir or mix at low speed til blended
Add water & mix 7 - 10 mins at low speed til icing loses its sheen (mix for shortest time that looks appropriate rather than longer)
To prevent drying, cover bowl w/damp cloth while working
Store in airtight container for up to 2 weeks
To re use beat on low temp to restore original texture

For medium consistency-add small amt of water til desired consistency is reached-do not add a lot of water at once

Formed flowers/decorations: allow to dry out, then store
for months
