- 5 Golden Delicious Apples (2.5 lbs)
- 3 firm ripe Bosc Pears (1.5 lbs)
- 3/4 cup dry Red Wine
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1/3 cup Sugar
- 2 tbs Butter

Step 1
Peel, core, slice apples and pears. In large saucepan add fruit, wine, sugar and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, cover and cook over med-low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. As fruit softens, mash it coarsely with a potato masher. Continue to cook uncovered until the sauce thickens, about 10 minutes. Discard bay leaf and stir in butter. Refigerate for storage but serve at room temperature.
