Hash Brown Casserole (Cracker Barrel)

Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 2 lbs. frozen hash brown potatoes
  • 2 cups grated cheddar (sharp or Colby) cheese (or 8 oz. jar Cheez Whiz)
  • 1 can cream of chicken or celery soup (or 1/2 cup beef broth)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 pint sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste (or garlic salt)
  • 2 cups crushed Corn Flakes
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix first 6 ingredients thoroughly and spread in a buttered 9 x 13-inch casserole.

Mix Corn Flakes with butter until well-coated. Spread evenly over potatoes. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes until brown and bubbly.

NOTE:
This recipe can be divided in half, shortening the cooking time.
