Ingredients
- sauce:
- 2 pkgs. dry yeast
- 1 1/3 cup warm water (120 degrees)
- pinch sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups flour
- 1 can tomato sauce (I like to use garlic flavored)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/8 cup onion, minced
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese, grated
- toppings of your choice
Preparation
Step 1
Dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar in large mixing bowl. Let set 5 minutes, until bubbly. Add salt and oil. Mix in enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in oiled bowl, turn to oil top. Cover and let rise till doubled, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, place onion and garlic in small microwavable bowl. Microwave on high for 45 seconds to 1 minute, until tender. Add tomato sauce and basil. Microwave on high for another minute and set aside.
When dough has doubled, punch down and divide in half. On floured surface, roll out 1/2 dough into 16" circle. Place on greased pizza pan. Repeat with other half dough. Spread sauce onto crusts. Top with grated cheese. Add toppings. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven and bake 10 minutes. Rotate pans and bake another 8-10 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
