Grandma Mae's Norwegian butter cookies

  • 3 sticks butter, softened at room temp
  • 1 1/2 C sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 C flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t Vanilla

Step 1

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2.Cream butter until light and fluffy.
3.Add sugar and beat well.
4.Add eggs and vanilla and mix.
5.Add flour and salt and beat until combined.
6.Drop by small teaspoons onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper spacing about 2 inches apart.
7.Bake for 8 to 10 minutes and allow to cool on sheet before removing to a rack to finish cooling.
8.Note: I press the tops down slightly before baking and sprinkle with lemon sugar. Or you can leave and dust with powdered sugar once they are cool.
