Ingredients
- Marinade:
- 1 lb. beef tenderloin or sliced stir fry beef
- 1 tbsp. rice wine or dry sherry
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. minced fresh ginger root
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 4 1/2 tsp. sesame oil
- 4 1/2 tsp. soy sauce
- 3 or 4 large lettuce leaves
- Seasoning Sauce:
- 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
- 1 1/2 tsp. hot bean sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. chicken broth
- ____________
- 1 c. vegetable or peanut oil
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 tbsp. sesame oil
Preparation
Step 1
Slice beef across grain and at an angle into thin 2" square pieces. Combine marinade ingredients in a medium bowl. Add beef squares; mix well. Let stand 30 min.
2 Arrange lettuce on a platter.
1Combine ingredients for seasoning sauce in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside.
2 Heat oil in wok (or frying pan)over high heat 1 minute. Stir fry marinated beef in hot oil until lightly browned.
3 Do not overcook. Remove from wok with slotted spoon. Remove oil from wok except 2 tbsp. Heat remaining oil in wok for 1 minute. Stir fry garlic until golden, 30 seconds. Add seasoning sauce. Stir fry until sauce thickens a bit. Add cooked beef, mix well. Stir in sesame oil. Spoon over lettuce leaves.
4 Sprinkle with additional sesame seeds for garnish.
