  • -3 pound chuck roast
  • -1 onion
  • -5 cloves of garlic
  • -fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, bay leaves), or dried
  • -packet of ranch seasoning
  • -packet of au jus gravy mix
  • -8 oz. can of tomato sauce
  • -32 oz beef broth (large carton)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcheshire
  • butter

Preparation

Step 1

Oil and season roast with seasoning of your choice
Sear roast on both sides (about 4 mins on each side)
Remove roast and add to crockpot
Add 4 tbls butter to same pan
Add onions and sauté for a few minutes, then add garlic, cook for one minute until fragrant.
Pour in 1 cup of tomato sauce, ranch and gravy packets
Stir until it thickens
Slowly add in broth until it’s a consistency you like
Stir about 5 mins
Pour gravy over roast
Add herbs and butter and remaining broth

Cook on low for 8 hours

Serve over mashed potatoes and garnish with herbs.
