- Easy
- Budget Friendly
Ingredients
- 2 Pkg active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 - 3 1 2 cups flour
Preparation
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
Add oil and sugar and let stand for 5 minutes.
Step 2
Add the egg, salt and enough flour to form a soft dough. Flour could depend on humidity. I add 2 cups to begin and continue to add 1/4-1/2 cup at a time and allow it to knead for 2-3 minutes. Texture is right when it cleans the size, even if it's still sticking some at to bottom of the bowl.
Step 3
Turn onto a floured surface
Do not let rise.
Step 4
Divide into 12 pieces and shape each into a ball (for best results weigh at 3 1/2 oz for a good size bun
Place 3" apart on greased baking sheets and flatten to about 1/2 the height of the "ball"
Step 5
Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Bake at 410° for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown (190 to 195 f internal temp).
Remove from pans to wire rack to cool.
