Ingredients
- FOR THE STREUSEL:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup oats
- 2 tsp apple pie spice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 sticks butter melted
- FOR THE PIE FILLING
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 7 medium apples peeled and
- thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
Preparation
Step 1
For the streusel, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, apple pie spice and salt in a bowl. Stir in meted butter until thoroughly combinedl reserve 1 1/2 cups streusel for the topping, Press remaining streusel into the bottom and up sides of a 10-inch deep-dish pie plate for the bottom crust; bake 10 minutes.
Step 2
Sprinkle the prepared apples with the lemon juice and toss. Mix together the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir the sugar mixture into the apples, being sure to cover completely.
Step 3
Put apples in prepared crust. Crumble reserved streusel over filling and bake pie until crust and topping are golden brown and filling is bubbly, 75 minutes.
