Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- Frosting:
- 1/3 cup butter
- 3 oz. unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tsp vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 9- by 13-inch pan.
Step 2
Measure all ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Mix one-half minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat three minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
Step 3
Pour into pan. Bake 40-45 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly.
Step 4
Make frosting: Mix butter and chocolate thoroughly blend in sugar. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Beat until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency.
