  • 1 1/3 cups butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 lg eggs
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Buttermilk custard sauce
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 egg yolks.

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325. Beat butter at medium speed until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating at medium until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at the time until just blended.
2. Add flour to butter mixture alternate with buttermilk, begin and end with flour.beat at low speed just until blended after each addition.. Stir in vanilla. Pour into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan.
3. Bake at 325 for 1 hr 5 min to 1 hr 10 min until long pick comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 10-15 minutes remove from pan and cool completely

Custard sauce
Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly and boil one minute. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp vanilla. Serve warm or cold. Store in refridgerator up to one week
