Ingredients
- THE LOAF
- 1/4 cup of shortening
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup of flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 cup of milk
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- THE GLAZE
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 cup of sugar

Preparation
Step 1
THE LOAF
1. Cream the shortening.
2. Gradually beat in the sugar.
3. Add the eggs and beat well.
4. Stir in the lemon rinds.
5. Sift the flour, slat and baking powder together.
6. Blend in the dry ingredients alternatively with the milk.
7. Bake in a greased loaf pan at 300° for 1 hour.
THE GLAZE
1. Mix the sugar and the lemon juice.
2. Remove the loaf from the oven and glaze immediately.
