Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c shortening
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/2 c. milk
Preparation
Step 1
Stir dry ingredients into bowl; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Blend eggs and milk; add all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened. Alternate layers of batter and spicy nuts in greased muffin pans or paper cups, filling cups 2/3-full. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Spicy Nuts: Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, 2 tablespoons flour, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and 2 tablespoons melted butter.
