Hearty Turkey Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 cup onion 250 ml.
  • 1/2 cup celery 125 ml.
  • 1 large can diced tomatoes 796 ml.
  • 1/2 cup red pepper 125 ml.
  • 1 cup carrots 250 ml.
  • 1-19 oz can red kidney beans 540g
  • 1-19 oz can black beans 540g
  • 12 oz ground turkey or chicken 340g
  • 1 tbsp chili powder 15 ml
  • 2 tsp minced garlic (or more) 10 ml
  • 1 tsp oregano 5ml
  • 1 tsp basil 5 ml
  • 1 tbsp sugar 15 ml
  • 1 tbsp cumin 15 ml
  • Salt (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Dice onion, celery and red pepper. Peel carrots and slice. Brown the ground turkey in a pan. Combine diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, onion, celery, red pepper, carrots, chili powder, garlic, oregano, basil and sugar in a cooking pot. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to medium simmer. Stir often.
