Vicky's Carolina mustard sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper OR you can substitute Spicy Montreal Steak Seasoning for the black and white pepper.
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Tablespoon liquid smoke ( I don't use this cause Jim usually adds smoke to the meat )

Preparation

Step 1


Mix together ingredients except for the soy sauce, liquid smoke, butter. Simmer for 30 minutes at a low heat. Add soy, smoke, butter and simmer 10 more minutes.
