Beer Batter Fish

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 7/8 cup cornstarch
  • 2 1/4 T baking powder
  • 1 1/4 t sugar
  • 2 T seasoning salt
  • 3/4 t garlic powder
  • 1 can beer
  • Tartar Sauce
  • 1 cup chopped dill pickles
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 5 chopped, pitted green olives
  • 2 c mayo
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • 1/2 t salt
  • white pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together batter ingredients. Add one can beer. Batter should be the consistency of c ream. If batter is thicker, add more beer.

Frying the fish:

Cut fish into pieces about 2 1/2 by 3 inches and 1/2 inch thick. Dredge pieces in corn flour; then dip in beer batter and fry at 365 degrees for five minutes or until golden brown.

Tartar sauce:

Mix all ingredients together until blended. Makes about 1 qt.
