Crockpot Beef Brisket

A slow cooked spicy beef brisket with its own bbq sauce.

Ingredients

  • Spice Rub for Brisket:
  • half cup packed dark brown sugar
  • two table spoons Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce
  • one table spoon of ground cumin
  • one table spoon of smoked Paprika
  • one table spoon salt ( optional)
  • two table spoons cayenne pepper
  • one 4-5 lb. beef brisket trimmed to quarter inch, fat scored every half inch so rub can get into meat.
  • Spices and sauce:
  • 3 tbl spoons of olive oil
  • one medium onion
  • two and a half tbl spoons of tomato paste from a tube
  • one tbl spoon of chili power
  • one tbl spoon of Sriracha Chili Sauce
  • Three cloves of garlic minced

Step 1

1. Combine sugar, sriracha sauce, cumin smoked paprika, cayenne pepper in a bowel. Rub on brisket all over. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 24 hrs.

2. Heat oil in large skillet over med heat. Add onion cook 4-5 min till tender. Add tomato paste cook one min. Add chili power, Sriracha sauce and garlic, one min. Add To crock pot arrange in the middle and place loaf pan over mixture. Put brisket on pan and add water. Cook till tender. 7-8 hrs. on high, 10-12 hrs. on low.

3. Remove brisket let rest for 30 minutes covered. Pour juices into bowel and skm fat.

4. Cut brisket thinly across grain and place on dish pour half of juices over sliced brisket. Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar and liquid smoke to remaining juices. Serve with sauce and salt and pepper.
