Ingredients

  • 1 cup oil
  • 1/1 /2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup cooked, chopped, seeded prunes
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Sauce: 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup marg.
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

sift together flour, soda, salt & spices.
Blend together sugar & oil, add beaten eggs Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add vanilla, nuts & prunes last. Bake in 14 x 10 pan at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Meanwile mix ingredients for sauce in small saucepan. Cook for 1 min. After baking cake for 1 hour, pour sauce over cake and return to the oven for 5-7 min. longer.
