Chinese five spice powder, cadamon and pears give an intriguing flavormore
cup cranberry juice
cups chopped, pedled, firm but ripe bartlett pears (⅓ inch pieces)
12 oz package cranberries
teaspoons ground cardamom
teaspoon chinese five-spice powder
Combine cranberry juice and sugar in heavy medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar disolves. Increase heat and bring to boil. Mix in remaining ingredients. Simmer until pears are tender and cranberries burst, stirring occasionally, about 8 minutes. Remve from heat. Cool completely. Chill thourougly.
